Christos Tsiolkas was born on 1965. He received the Overall Best Book award in the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize in 2009, was on the shortlist for the 2009 Miles Franklin Literary Award, was on the longlist for the 2010 Man Booker Prize, and won the Australian Literary Society Gold Medal all for his book The Slap, which was also named the Book of the Year by the Australian Booksellers Association and the Australian Book Industry Awards in 2009.
