Lee Seung-gi was born on January 10, 1987, in the South Korean capital of Seoul. Despite the fact that nothing is known about his family, it is generally considered that he comes from a prosperous business family in the South Korean capital of Seoul. Lee has stated that he has never had a warm relationship with his parents, and that this has been the case since he was a toddler.

For the majority of his primary and middle school years, Lee was an excellent student. During his scholastic years, he developed fluency in three languages: English, Japanese, and Korean.
