Keith Sweat Biography

 

Keith Sweat was born on  22 July 1961. Keith Douglas Sweat’s factory worker father, Charles, and hairdresser mother, Juanita, gave birth to their son. He started performing at New York City clubs when he was just 14 years old, having grown up in the Harlem neighborhood. His teenage years in New York City were spent juggling schoolwork with singing and playing at various places.


He earned a bachelor’s degree in “communications” from the City University of New York and then found success as a brokerage assistant at a thriving Wall Street business. He had a successful profession on Wall Street but gave it up to follow his dream of becoming a musician. He started creating songs and sent them to different record labels.  Later, as a solo artist, he experienced unprecedented success, with albums and singles that reached No. 1 on R&B and Billboard charts.
