Lewis Hamilton, whose full name is Lewis Carl Hamilton and who was born on January 7, 1985, in Stevenage, England, is a British race-car driver who is widely considered to be among the most successful drivers in the history of Formula One (F1) Grand Prix racing. He holds the record for the most career victories in Formula One races and is currently tied with Michael Schumacher for the most driver’s championships (seven).

In 2008, he made history by becoming the first driver of African descent to ever win the Formula One World Drivers’ Championship. When he was just eight years old, Hamilton got his start as a race car driver. When he was only 10 years old, he triumphed in the British Kart Championship. After another three years, Hamilton was signed to the McLaren and Mercedes-Benz Young Driver Support Programme, which provided him with the assistance and backing he required to train and develop his abilities.
