Sarah Vowell Biography

 

Sarah Vowell’s birthday is December 27th, and she was born in the city of Muskogee, Oklahoma. She is a well-known social critic, writer, journalist, and author from the United States. Vowell received her Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages and Literature from Montana State University in 1993. She then went on to get her Master of Arts in Art History from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1996. In the year 1996, Vowell was honored with the Music Journalism Award.

Vowell is the author of a number of non-fiction works about American history and culture, several of which have been top sellers in The New York Times. She offers personal, often humorous accounts of everything from presidents and their assassins to colonial religious fanatics, as well as thoughts on American Indians, utopian dreamers, pop music, and the occasional cranky cartographer by examining the connections between the American past and present.
