Joe Manganiello is a well-known name in the acting, producing, and directing industries in the United States. His parents, Susan (Brachanow) and Charles John Manganiello, raised him in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He has a younger brother named Nicholas, who is also his producing partner. His background comes from a diverse range of places, including Sicily, Ireland, Croatia, Armenia, Germany, and Africa.

Joe is a Mount Lebanon native who received his secondary education from the local Mount Lebanon High School. In high school, he excelled in three sports—football, basketball, and volleyball—and was named captain of all three teams. He also competed at the varsity level in all three sports. As a consequence of his involvement in the film projects that he and his friends worked on together when he was in high school, he developed an interest in performing.
