Christoph Waltz Biography

 

Austrian-born actor Christoph Waltz was born on October 4, 1956, to set and costume designers Johannes Waltz and Elisabeth Urbancic. All four generations of his family were involved in the theater: his great-grandparents, step-grandfather, and maternal grandmother. He attended Vienna, Austria’s Max Reinhardt Seminar for Acting. He also took acting classes with New York City greats Lee Strasberg and Stella Adler.

Early in his career, he was a stage actor who appeared on stages including Zurich’s Schauspielhaus and Vienna’s Burgtheater. Best renowned for his supporting performances in films like “Inglourious Basterds” and “Django Unchained,” for which he earned an Academy Award, Christoph Waltz is an Austrian actor. As a young man, he made the decision to pursue a career in acting and made his debut on stages like Zurich’s Schauspielhaus Zurich. After that, he began appearing in television films as an actor. Later, he made the transition to film and has since acted in dozens of German features, typically playing villains.
