Benicio del Toro Biography

 

In the middle of the 1990s, Benicio Del Toro established himself as one of the most watchable and engaging character performers who had appeared in recent years. Del Toro, a darling among movie fans, first came to the attention of the general public for his role in Steven Soderbergh’s film Traffic as a confused but fundamentally honest Mexican policeman (2000).

Benicio was born on February 19, 1967 in San Germán, Puerto Rico. His parents, Fausta Genoveva Sanchez Rivera and Gustavo Adolfo Del Toro Bermudez were both lawyers. Benicio was the son of two lawyers. When he was a little boy, his mother passed away, and soon after, his father relocated the family to a farm in Pennsylvania. He was a basketball player who also had an interest in acting, but ultimately he chose to continue in his family’s footsteps and enroll at the University of California, San Diego to study business.
