Beabadoobee Biography
Beabadoobee is a singer-songwriter whose sound is steeped in the grunge of the ’90s, combining whispered confessions with forceful guitar riffs. His sound is often described as a “90s alternative” when referring to his discography. Her distinct, lo-fi style of songwriting at the time of her 2017 debut, when she released her first-ever song, “Coffee,” mirrored her love of indie artists like Elliott Smith and Kimba Dawson.
It was also her first attempt at writing music. It worked wonderfully with Clairol and similar contemporary bedroom pop artists. In addition, this performance of “Coffee” was her first-ever public appearance. However, by 2019, as seen by tracks like “Space Cadet EP,” a tribute to Sonic Youth and Pavement that includes the song “I Wanna Be Stephen Mallkus,” she had graduated from the bedroom. Both Beabadoobee’s debut album and Her Extended Play EP displayed a more developed and ambitious sound than her prior work. It was at the same time that both of these endeavors began. Both of these projects were released to the public in 2021. Beabadoobee’s music has always had an open and honest tone, and this is consistent across both of their albums.
