Jason Reitman Biography

His two younger sisters are the actress Catherine and the writer/director Caroline. His mother is of French-Canadian Christian origin, and his father is Jewish and from Czechoslovakia, the child of Holocaust survivors.

Jason Reitman, son of directors Ivan Reitman and Geneviève Robert, began his acting career with small appearances in his father’s films. The 2005 film Thank You for Smoking, starring Aaron Eckhart, was Reitman’s directorial debut; it was a loose version of Christopher Buckley’s book about a sly spin doctor for the tobacco industry. That performance was praised by reviewers all throughout the country.
