Joyce Meyer Biography
Joyce Meyer was born on June 4, 1943, in St. Louis. At first, Joyce’s mother raised her while her father was away serving in the military during World War II. Joyce’s father returned from the war and immediately began abusing her sexually, emotionally, verbally, and intellectually. He was very authoritarian in nature. Joyce’s exploitation left a lasting mark on her, and she came to have a low opinion of herself as a result. Joyce suffered from multiple personality disorder, even though to outsiders she appeared normal. Although she attended classes, she was unable to focus on her work, and she was barred from participating in extracurricular activities.
Joyce was plagued with self-pity at an early age. She became extremely difficult to deal with due to her dominating, manipulative, insecure, and brusque demeanor. She felt guilty and began to think in a suspicious, pessimistic way as a result. The worst part, though, was that she was never truly secure. Joyce, a survivor of abuse, persevered through school and earned her diploma from St. Louis’s O’Falllon Technical High School.
