David Oyelowo Biography
David Oyelowo was born on April 1, 1976, in the city of Oxford, which is found in the county of Oxfordshire in the United Kingdom. After graduating with honors from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, Nicholas Hytner, who was serving at the time as the Director of London’s National Theatre, presented him with the “Scholarship for Excellence” in 1998. Nicholas Hytner was serving at the time as the Director of London’s National Theatre.
David gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of King Henry VI in the year 2000 when he gave a performance as part of the productions of Shakespeare’s trilogy about the king that was staged by the Royal Shakespeare Company. The Royal Shakespeare Company was responsible for putting on the performances of the trilogy. David’s performance was praised, and he even won the Ian Charleson Award in the same year for being the first black actor to play an English monarch in a major Shakespeare production. This accomplishment earned him the award for being the first black actor to play an English monarch in a major Shakespeare production.
