Carles Puyol Saforcada is a retired professional footballer from Spain. He spent his whole career at Barcelona, where he played for the club. He mostly played in the middle of the defense, although he was versatile enough to play on either side of the field, predominantly on the right side. He is generally recognized as one of the greatest defenders and captains in the history of the sport, and he has received accolades for both his defensive abilities and his leadership.
