Mark Rylance Biography
David Mark Rylance Waters was born on January 18, 1960. Both Anne and David Waters are professors of English, and they brought up their son. His sibling Susannah is an opera singer and writer, while his brother Jonathan is a sommelier. After attending the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and the Chrysalis Theatre School, Mark Rylance made his professional acting debut with the Glasgow Citizens’ Theatre in 1980.
First seen in “Hearts of Fire” in 1987, he has since been in numerous other blockbuster movies. The Grass Arena, released in 1991, marked his first starring role in a film. Rylance received the Radio Times Award for Best Newcomer in recognition of his outstanding performance. The following year, he won the Olivier Award for Best Actor for his work in a production of “Much Ado About Nothing” by Shakespeare.
