Hagon Garrick Biography
Hagon was born in London, England, and reared in Toronto, Ontario, where he attended both the University of Toronto and Trinity College. In 1963, he and Alec Guinness won the Tyrone Guthrie Prize at the Stratford Festival for their portrayal of Richard III. After training at London’s Royal Court Theatre Studio, Hagon appeared in “The River,” a 1964 episode of the CBC series The Forest Rangers, before going on to work with Prospect Productions and various repertory theaters, as well as to star in Arthur Miller’s All My Sons on Broadway and After the Fall at the Royal National Theatre.
The UK version of Star Fleet/X-Bomber features his voice work, as do Akira Kurosawa’s Ran and the Manga adaptations The Secret of Mamo and Goodbye, Lady Liberty. Also, Garrick has directed over a hundred audiobook recordings, such as Ian McKellen’s reading of Michelle Paver’s “Wolf Brother” and Philip Pullman’s “His Dark Materials,” the latter of which won an Audie Award for its full-cast, unabridged edition.
