Franco De Vita Biography
Franco De Vita is a singer and songwriter who is well-known in the Latin music scene. He was born on January 23, 1954, in Caracas, Venezuela. De Vita was one of three children born to Italian immigrants in Latin America. When he was three years old, his family moved back to Italy. When De Vita was 13 years old, his family relocated back to Venezuela, where he eventually went on to study piano at the university level.
Icaro was a band that De Vita founded in 1982 and released one album under its own name in his own country of Italy. After another year, he finally issued his debut album under his name, simply Franco De Vita. This album was responsible for three singles, all of which were performed in Spanish: “Somos Three,” “No Hay Cielo,” and “Un Bien Perdedor.” The song “Sólo Importas T,” found on the album, was chosen as the theme song for the soap opera La Dama de Rosa, performed in Spanish. After every episode, he would play the music on the piano while the credits rolled.
