Chicharito Hernandez Biography

Javier Hernández was born to Silvia Balcázar and Javier Gutiérrez on June 1, 1988, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. His whole family is full of athletes. His father and grandpa were both professional athletes at the national level. His father was a member of the Mexican national team in the 1986 “FIFA World Cup,” and his grandparents had played in the 1954 “FIFA World Cup.” Javier came from a football-crazed family, so his early interest in the game wasn’t surprising. Javier’s passion for the sport was bolstered by his father being a coach for a few local teams.  When he was just seven years old, he made his professional debut. The “Mexican Recreation League” was where he played.

Javier spent the majority of his childhood in Morelia, where his father was a member of the club Monarcas Morelia and where Javier also attended elementary school. At Instituto Piaget, Javier first picked up the sport of football. At age 9, he was already a sensation at regional competitions. He signed his first professional contract with the club CD Guadalajara when he was only 15 years old after joining the club’s youth team.
