Charles Matthew Hunnam was born on April 10, 1980, to company owner mother Jane (Bell) and scrap metal dealer father William (Hunnam). When he was just 18 years old, he had a recurring role on the hit television series Byker Grove (1989). His appearance as the love-struck Nathan Maloney in the British television show Queer as Folk catapulted him to stardom (1999).
