Terrence Howard Biography

On March 11, 1969, American parents Tyrone Howard and Anita Howard gave birth to Terrence Howard in Chicago, Illinois. Both of his parents were cruel to him as a child, making his life a living hell. He was just two years old when he saw his father knife a guy, an act that landed his father in prison for manslaughter. When his father was finally set free, his parents split up. Howard himself left home at 16 and has been living off of welfare ever since. When he was 18, he uprooted his life and headed for New York to launch an acting career.

He began out as a chemical engineering major at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, but he walked out after two years to pursue acting. After making his acting debut on television in the 1992 miniseries The Jacksons: An American Dream, he went on to star in critically acclaimed films including Dead Presidents and Mr. Holland’s Opus. His best-known works are the American drama ‘Crash,’ for which he received a number of accolades, and the drama picture ‘Hustle & Flow,’ for which he was nominated for an Oscar and received a number of other honors.
