Meg Ryan Biography
Meg Ryan, who is known for her bubbly demeanor, was born Margaret Mary Emily Hyra in Fairfield, Connecticut. Her mother, Susan (Duggan), was an English teacher and actress in her day, while her father, Harry Hyra, was a math teacher. Meg’s hair is blonde, and her eyes and skin are blue. Her maternal grandmother’s maiden name, Ryan, is Ruthenian, and she also has Polish, Irish, and German heritage (the surname “Hyra” is Ruthenian, and “Ryan” was her maiden name).
In June of 1979, Meg received her diploma from Bethel High School in Bethel. She relocated to New York, where she enrolled at New York University and pursued a degree in journalism there. Meg moved into the acting business under her new identity, Meg Ryan, so that she could supplement her income while she was earning her degree. She made her first appearance on the big screen in 1981, when she played Candice Bergen’s daughter in the last film directed by George Cukor called Rich and Famous (1981).
