Kevin Kline Biography
Kevin Kline’s parents, Margaret and Robert Joseph Kline were businesspeople and owned many businesses when he was born in St. Louis, Missouri. His mother was of Irish origin, but his German-Jewish father was the patriarch of their family. Kline received his education at the Juilliard School in New York after completing his undergraduate degree at Indiana University in Bloomington.
Kline became a member of John Houseman’s Acting Company in New York in 1972. Houseman was in charge of the company at the time. Kline toured the nation with this troupe, giving performances of Shakespeare’s works. Kline has been nominated for two Tony Awards for his work in the musicals “On the Twentieth Century” (1978) and “The Pirates of Penzance.” Both of these productions were staged in New York City (1981).
