Karl Urban Biography

 

Karl Urban was born and raised in Wellington, New Zealand, however he now resides in Auckland. He was born on the 7th of June in 1972, and his father was a maker of leather products (who had hoped that Karl would follow in his footsteps). When he was just eight years old, he had his acting debut in a television series, where he had a speaking part. On the other hand, he did not perform again until well after he graduated from high school.

As he was getting ready to enroll at Victoria University, he received an opportunity to play a part in the New Zealand soap series Shortland Street (1992). After having a recurring role on the show during the 1993–1994 season, he went back to school for a single year before dropping out to focus on his acting career. In the years that followed, he was cast in a number of plays that were staged in and around Wellington.
