Matthew Lillard Biography
Matthew Lillard was born in Lansing, Michigan to Paula and Jeffrey Lillard. Since he was a young child, all the way through high school, he and his family were California residents, with most of those years spent in Tustin. He spent his summer after graduating from high school working as a background actor in the movie Ghoulies Go to College. In 1989, Matthew presided over the Nickelodeon show SK8 TV. He went to study at Pasadena, California’s American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Before Matthew traveled to New York in 1991 to attend Circle in the Square, he and a friend created the theatre group Mean Street Ensemble. As of the end of 1991, the company has officially closed its doors. Matthew’s casting as Serial Mom was a decision made by manager Bill Treusch. Playing Chip spurred Matthew to start a new theatre group he dubbed the Summoners. The name Matthew Lyn Lillard is synonymous with American theatre and film. The majority of his recognition stems from his early cinematic roles. His appearances as Chip Sutphin in Serial Mom and Emmanuel “Cereal Killer” Goldstein in Hackers have brought him widespread recognition.
